I love this author. She is amazing, especially when she writes about the Friessens or family stories. I liked this story a lot. The hero is a man named Sean who is married to Annie. He is involved in some type of a military endeavor. We never learn exactly what because of military secrets. He has come back and he is a changed man. His wife, Annie, tries to adjust to the new Sean. I have never had to deal with this scenario, but the author gives a good idea of the feelings and emotions of how that would feel. Some friends of Sean's help the couple through their difficult time.The reason I gave the story a 4 was that I wished it was a little longer so that I could understand the characters a little better. I did read it in one sitting since I had to know what happened. That is a mark of a good story to me. I read a great deal of books and some I never finish because I don't care. I have never felt that about this author. I read everything that she writes and wait diligently for the next installment. I think this is a standalone and you don't have to have read anything else in order to know the characters or the story. I recommend it as a good read.

Good book
All of her books are good, interesting, and keeps you on edge of your seat.
I highly recommend
One of my favorite authors I cannot put her books down, the characters are so real.
Here's my problems with this book
1. Sean, former military, suffering from PTSD, finally gets into counseling after almost killing his wife by choking her. GOOD!
2. Annie, Sean's wife, also suffers from the trauma of the choking and fear of her husband, but she gets NO! counseling! What????
3. Zac is very protective of his wife and wants a family. Diane is a cop and loves her job. Zac, who lost a child because the mother put herself in a dangerous situation and both mother and child died, wants Diane to quit her job but she wants to keep working. So in typical "the man is always right" terms, she quits her job. Zac even tells his friend, Sean, "It had taken a lot of waiting and patience on his part, giving her the space she needed to make the decision he wanted her to make. “So how did you twist her arm?” Sean asked. Zac looked back at his friend and said, “Just by loving her, giving her time, and trusting she’d make the right choice." So much for a woman knowing her own mind. Why is Zac's choice the right choice? Why is the man always right in this author's stories?
4. Everybody in this story has secrets and lies by omission and just seem not to add drama to the story but get tedious in their repetition.
I just found myself saying over and over again as I read this story-What? Again with the whining? Grow up! Get counseling!
This is just not a great book.
Not what I expected
This book was so moving, I was crying while it read it. She writes the most wonderful books.
I really enjoyed this book. I had read the 'Walk The Right Road' series, and went straight to this book. It was hard to put down, so I finished it this morning. I love this author! It's easy to picture her descriptions. I live in Western Washington, so know the areas she describes.
PTSD and a HEA. This work deals with combat veteran issues, returning home and trying to keep an even keel with day to day living. It is not light-hearted but it is realistic.
Believable characters, interesting and informative dialogue. Easy to follow storyline.
I will re-read this story as I do all her stories. I always look forward to, pre-order when possible, new works by this author.
